2024 Year-End Update from WESC President
Dear Whiskeytown Environmental School Community,
It’s been an incredible year for the Whiskeytown Environmental School Community (WESC)! The Grow Back Stronger Campaign to relaunch residential education programs at WES is pressing forward and we’ve experienced significant progress this year. In case you missed it, here are a few highlights:
WESC was named the 2024 California Nonprofit of the year by Meghan Dahle, California State Assemblywoman for District 1.
The National Park Service granted conditional approval of further development for rebuilding WES—a huge hurdle—clearing the way for environmental permitting and facility design.
Amphitheater Rehabilitation is happening, thanks to financial support and volunteer hours from many individuals, businesses, and service organizations.
Make a Splash—Restore the Pond initiative is underway—we raised resources on Giving Tuesday towards this essential project to re-establish this learning laboratory on our campus.
To date, we have raised $5.2 Million towards our goal of $7.5 Million — in pledges and gifts, we are grateful for the support of our community.
Will you join me in making a year-end gift to help us rebuild WES? Your gift will help relaunch overnight programs at WES. Together, we can bring our beloved environmental school back to life and impact current and future generations of Shasta County students.
Warmly,
Melinda Kashuba, PhD
Whiskeytown Environmental School Community President
